CIVIL REPUBLICAN BALL AND CELEBRATION

The "Republican" regime which took hold in 1923, is credited for important advances in Istanbul as well as throughout the country. Every 29th of October, Turkey’s Republic Day, celebrations were marked by official and civil Republic balls where guests would Tango and enjoy themselves. Since 1995, this long lost tradition of urban culture has been brought back to life again with the Armada’s Civil Republic Ball. The event was in great demand and as a result was most recently moved to the sea on the Armada Boat. Although it’s carried out today in more modest proportions, the magic of the event is unsurpassed with fireworks displays on the Bosphorus Bridge that evening.
